[Liu Sola & Friends] Ensemble
Liu Sola formed this international soloists band [Liu Sola and Friends] in 1997 in New York, supported by New York’s celebrated theater director and artist, sister Joanna Chen . The members of the band included: Amina C. Myers, Fernando Sounders, and Pheeroan aKlaff . In 2000, the band debuted in Beijing as the first-ever traditional Chinese “jazz” band. Teaming up with the top Chinese instrumental virtuosos (led by the “Chinese Drum King” Li Zhengui), the performance was an instant success with media and critics. In 2003, the band performed Liu Sola’s compositions at the opening of the Berlin Transonic Music Festival together with renowned jazz-rock musicians from the United States, and was again highly acclaimed by the German audience and the media. At the In Transit Festival in Berlin in June 2005, [Liu Sola and Friends] held a concert that was at the same time both traditional and avant-garde, in the form of a Chinese chamber music ensemble. Their performance was once again highly acclaimed by the general public in Berlin and the German press.
In early 2006, this ensemble collaborated with Ensemble Modern (Germany) for Liu Sola’s new opera [Fantasy of the Red Queen]. The ensemble has also collaborated with national and international choreographers for dance & music performances, as well as involved with Liu Sola’s album and film sound track recording. It will continue the collaboration with national & international musicians and artists, and tour worldwide as a new kind of Chinese chamber music ensemble.

[刘索拉与朋友们]乐队

[刘索拉与朋友们]是刘索拉自1997年起，在纽约著名的戏剧导演，艺术家，修女陈伊莹女士的策划和支持下，在纽约创立的一只国际化独奏家乐队。这个乐队的成员由不同国籍的著名独奏音乐家们自愿组合而成。在纽约参加过这个乐队的音乐家曾有：Amina C. Myers, Fernando Sounders, Pheeroan aKlaff 等著名爵士摇滚音乐家及特邀的民族音乐家。　2000年它以中国民族爵士乐队形式在北京与李真贵先生为首的中国民族音乐家联合首演，以中国第一只民族[爵士]乐队的面貌出现，演出立即受到了国内媒体的高度评价和关注。2003年该乐队的中国民族音乐家们在柏林的新音乐节开幕式上与原美国爵士摇滚音乐家成员共同演奏了刘索拉的作品音乐会系列。音乐会得到德国主要媒体的高度评价。2005年， [刘索拉与朋友们]以纯粹的中国民族室内乐队形式出现在柏林In-transit国际艺术节［反叛者音乐会专场系列］中，以独特的音乐风格对照了艺术节上其他摇滚和现代音乐专场，德国媒体好评如潮。2006年，[刘索拉与朋友们]作为独立乐队与世界一流的德国[现代室内乐团]（Ensemble Modern）在法兰克福和柏林共同演出了刘索拉最新创作的现代歌剧《惊梦》。多年来，这个乐队不仅曾参与了刘索拉的唱片制作和在国外和国内的电影音乐录音，并且曾与世界和中国著名的音乐家舞蹈家们合作演出，今后还将继续与国内外著名音乐家艺术家合作，也将继续在世界各大艺术节巡演，成为一只既有传统技术风格又有前卫音响的独立乐队。
