Zhang Lie graduated from the Institute of Music of Xi An, and then studied with the famous commander Yang Hongnian at the Central Conservatory of Music.
In his 30 years being a professional musician, Mr. Zhang has participated in directing and performing numerical types of events including symphony, opera, dance drama, folk orchestral and percussion etc. Also for numerical times Mr. Zhang has been an award winner in many occasions in the field of music for film, TV series, and stage play. He has given concerts “China Instruments” and “Amorous of the West” in Japan, Hong Kong, Macao, and Mainland China.
Mr. Zhang's major works “Sound of Qin”, “Smoke in the Desert”, “Yellow Soil, Yellow River and Free Songs” were played in Taiwan and Singapore and was highly praised by the media.
Mr. Zhang's other major works include China folk orchestral music “Thoughts of Guan Mountain”, Western percussion “Path of the Battle”, composite percussion “Imagination of Blue Sea”, “Son of the Sun”, “Bell of the Western Camel” etc. The orchestral part he wrote for the er'hu concerto “Lan Hua Hua” was successfully played by the BBC in London and by the China Symphony Philharmonic in Beijing.
Working together with Lui Bing, Mr. Zhang Lie has successfully recovered and re-built the disappeared Chinese traditional instrument “Fang Xiang”, and therefore was granted the “Youth Scientific Award” in China.
